Agnieszka Kurczewska and Kristina Stoewe.

Hello Agnieszka Kurczewska!

What is your background and specific interest in entrepreneurship?

My overall research interests concern entrepreneurship and entrepreneurship education. Especially, I have been involved in research related to the discussion on entrepreneurial opportunities and on the role of experience in learning and education. My current research goals center around addressing the pedagogy–andragogy continuum by departing from the student entrepreneur perspective. The underlying assumption is that education is both a structured process and a mean to develop individuals. In particular, I am interested in developing the following themes: multidisciplinary perspective on different phases of learning process, experiential theories on learning and education, but also ethical dimension of entrepreneurship.

What brought you to Lund University and Sten K. Johnson Centre for Entrepreneurship?

I appreciate a research community at Sten K. Johnson Centre for Entrepreneurship. I had an opportunity to meet many researchers from the Centre during entrepreneurship conferences and seminars. Together with Gustav Hägg we are currently working on two research papers. The first one addresses the role of guidance in entrepreneurship education. The second concerns entrepreneurial responsibility, the concept that seems to be forgotten in entrepreneurship research but is utmost actual in business life.

What are your expectations on your stay?

I hope that during my three-month stay I will develop these two papers. I am very happy to join any research seminars and workshops taking place in the Centre. Only this week I have a chance to participate in two. I am sure I will get inspired, I will enhance my research skills and I will broaden my research network.

Difficult! Maybe that I visited over 50 countries so far?

Hello Kristina Stoewe!

What is your background and specific interest in entrepreneurship?

My academic background is actually in vocational education and training studies and labour market integration of immigrants. In my PhD I am changing perspective by looking at entrepreneurship among refugees in Germany and the UK, which has been an exciting journey so far.

What brought you to Lund University and Sten K. Johnson Centre for Entrepreneurship?

I saw that the Centre is working on my PhD topic and was lucky to get a Universitas 21 studentship for Doctoral students. Both the University of Birmingham and Lund University are a member of the international network. Since I’ve always wanted to spend some time in Lund, it was like winning a jackpot!

What are your expectations on your stay?

To meet new colleagues, co-organise a workshop on refugee entrepreneurship, attend University events and discover Lund.

After my master studies, I took a few months off and lived on a glacier in Iceland with some 50 Greenlandic sled dogs (and of course a few humans). That’s been one of the most valuable and long-lasting experiences I have ever made.
